Market Data Methodology
CoinHunt is a comparison utility, not a page-generation system. A coin URL is publishable only when it has enough independently sourced, current observations to be useful to someone deciding what to pay.
Current status
CoinHunt is not yet publishing market data. The ingestion layer that produces price observations is still being built, so every coin page is currently below the publication gate and excluded from search indexes and sitemaps. This page describes how data will be handled when it is published, and is written so you can hold us to it.
Publication gate
A coin page requires at least 3 live price observations, 5 auction comparisons, 2 working market-search links, and a confidence score of at least 60. All supporting observations must be no more than 30 days old. Pages below the threshold are noindex and absent from generated sitemaps.
Sources and permission
eBay inventory comes through eBay's official API. Dealer inventory is indexed only where the dealer has given CoinHunt permission, and CoinHunt's crawler obeys each site's robots.txt. Some dealers permit CoinHunt to match their inventory but not to republish their listings, photos, or prices; for those dealers CoinHunt shows the business name and contact information only.
Normalization and validation
Incoming records map to a canonical identity built from series, year, mint mark, variety, designation, and grade. Where a listing does not state a detail, CoinHunt records it as not stated rather than inferring it. Stale timestamps, currency mismatches, outliers, grade-price inversions, and bullion-melt listings are quarantined before publication.
Planned analysis
Dealer spread, realized-price trends, grade premiums, population-to-supply signals, and retail-versus-realized gaps are planned and not yet computed. This section will be updated as each one ships, and no figure will appear on a coin page before it does.
Freshness
Each source carries its own cache policy. Values past their window render as refreshing rather than being presented as current, and licensed data is purged according to its contractual requirements.
